Matthew Cooke has spent over 12 years at the intersection of complex project management and maritime operations.Matthew J. Cooke is a Naval Architect, Project Manager, and the Principal Consultant of Manage For Us LLC. After completing advanced studies in Civil Engineering at The Cooper Union, Matthew went on to earn his degree in Naval Architecture from the State University of New York Maritime College — laying the technical foundation for a career spent leading some of the most complex operations in the maritime industry.
Over a 12-year tenure at T&T Salvage LLC, Matthew built a reputation as a trusted technical and operational leader, contributing expertise across engineering, project management, logistics coordination, strategic planning, cost analysis, and operational support. He has overseen and actively participated in numerous large-scale salvage and emergency response operations across the United States and internationally — collaborating closely with salvage teams to develop rigorous Salvage and Operations Plans that earned approval from the United States Coast Guard, international class societies, local and international regulatory bodies, and marine surveyors.
The defining project of Matthew's career to date is his role as one of two lead Project Managers on the wreck removal of the Golden Ray — the largest marine salvage operation in United States history. His leadership ensured seamless coordination across the Unified Command, the United States Coast Guard, and a broad network of stakeholders throughout every phase of the project, from initial tendering through final completion. You may have seen him tell that story firsthand on the Weather Channel's Deep Water Salvage.
Matthew's emergency response credentials are equally extensive. His deep experience with the Incident Command System (ICS) includes annual participation in more than 20 large-scale exercises with leading shipping companies and oil majors, and his multifaceted expertise positions him as a sought-after voice on the critical role of the salvor in oil spill response and source containment operations.
Beyond the maritime world, Matthew has built a life defined by leadership, community, and a commitment to helping others succeed. He is an active real estate investor and property manager with a stake in over ten properties, and in 2022 he founded The How To Foundation — an organization whose mission is to serve as a guiding light by providing the resources and education people need to succeed in every aspect of life. Through impactful community events, the Foundation addresses financial literacy, healthy living, real estate, home maintenance, career development, and social flourishing.
Matthew also previously served as Vice President of the Young Catholic Professionals Houston Chapter, reflecting a long-standing commitment to faith, community, and investing in the next generation of leaders.
Whether in the field, in the boardroom, or on stage, Matthew Cooke brings the same qualities to everything he does: technical depth, operational precision, and a genuine passion for the people and communities he serves.
